Project Management Professional
This position will be responsible for addressing the needs of the project management community through Unifier ®, a new (to International Paper) capital project and portfolio management (CPPM) system.  Providing expert technical consultation on the Oracle Primavera Unifier® web-based platform and maintaining a stable and secure environment for project data storage, analysis, and reporting.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for researching problems, planning solutions, and coordinating system development to meet changing needs or requirements.
  • Responsible for developing solutions to user requests, translating them into technical specifications, and directing IT in developing changes and their deployment.
  • Provide support to Project Management professionals in identifying best-practices and quantifying their benefits.
  • Support facility Project Managers in utilizing recognized VIPs to improve their portfolio performance.
  • Audit project performance metrics and identify business processes that reduce International Paper’s implementation costs. 
  • Coordinate support work with the IT support group for Unifier.
  • Configure business processes, VIPs, workflows, and other items within Unifier
  • Develop and maintain Unifier’s on-line help system and training materials.
Key Challenges:
  • The newly deployed Unifier includes a replacement for ePAD.  Transitioning to the new system may require that portfolio managers use ePAD, Unifier, plus SAP for some period as planned projects progress through approvals.  Familiarity with these systems' interactions with each other will be needed to guide users through the transition period, forsee issues prior to them presenting problems, and develop solutions and instructions for the users.
  • Project management work practices must be standardized based on proven best practices and VIPs.  Identifying and deploying new VIPs or improved work-practices will be necessary to sustain improvements. 
  • These systems and applications will be deployed globally.
  • This position will interface with the entire Project Management community within International Paper. Along with the Manager-Capital Project Management Systems and working with Process Stewards, this position will have global responsibility for institutionalizing, sustaining, and improving Unifier ®. 
Knowedge and Experience:
  • BSME, BSEE or BSChemE or related engineering degree
  • 10+ years of project management experience
  • Self-directed and driven, requiring minimum supervision
  • Recognized by peers and facility leadership as an expert and leader in their field
  • Experienced at managing capital projects in the $25-$50MM range
Advanced knowledge of and proficiency in the following areas: Capital project development and execution processes, safety, pulp & paper manufacturing processes, industrial regulatory requirements, reliability, project cost controls, portfolio management, strategic planning, startup/ramp up planning, engineering management, estimating skills, contracting strategies, construction management and outage planning and execution.
Advanced leadership skills; negotiating, team development, influencing, command skills, managerial courage, planning and organizing, managing upward, results oriented, conflict resolution, etc.
This position will report to the Manager – Capital Project Management Systems within the Capital COE of Global Technology.
The position will likely require the applicant to travel, present developed training materials to users in a training environment, interact with a Help Desk management software application, and directly assist users with problems.
