General Information: This position is a part of the Sheet business within North American Container and reports to the Sheets Complex General Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position with full P&L responsibilities for the Elizabethon, TN facility.
Background: Provide leadership, coordination and competency that enable people and processes to deliver value to the customer and achieve superior business results. The Plant General Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective team and organization structure that will maximize customer satisfaction, allow the achievement of the strategic sales and marketing,manufacturing, business, capital, and human resource plans, and achieve overall profitability of the operation.  
Key Functions: Creates a positive work environment that is proactive toward safety and health; ensures that all safety and environmental reliable methods are in place and effectively managed. Monitors the performance and effectiveness of and coordinates key functions to ensure that customer needs are understood and satisfied, including sales and marketing, design, permanent displays, project management, manufacturing, fulfillment, kitting and packout, warehousing, logistics, human resources, quality, financials, and continuous improvement. Provides leadership to achieve superior manufacturing capabilities; developes capital plan and requests; ensures that all company assets are managed effectively. Responsible for the design and implementation of the long-term improvement plans for the facility, including actively promoting employee engagement and operational excellence. Fulfills the legal and administrative requirements of the corporation, federal and state laws, business, region and plant. Develops and maintains effective teams and organizational structures to maximize business performance as well as customer loyalty and employee satisfaction. Ensures that all management, technical, and human resource systems, especially engagement, employee development, and succession planning, are current, effectively utilized, and improved where possible. Effectively manages the relationship between International Paper and the community.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Marketing, Finance, Engineering or other technical discipline experience; Master's degree desirable.  Minimum 10  years of cross-functional expertise and management experience in a corrugated manufacturing operation. Extensive technical knowledge and/or line experience with corrugated products, markets and manufacturing processes; knowledge of the point-of-purchase industry, large national retailers, and/or consumer packaged goods companies is strongly preferred. Functional knowledge and/or experience in manufacturing systems (including throughput, cost and waste control, maintenance, quality, inventory control and meeting budgeted production metrics), sales and marketing (including local and national sales, project management, achieving superior customer focus, establish and meet facility sales goals, identify and target market segments, and deploy pricing strategy), human resource systems (including positive employee and labor relations, engagement, diversity, recruiting and staffing and, employee and leadership development), project management/customer service systems, financials, as well as the legal implications involved with these areas.  Excellent individual and team leadership skills, including creative problem solving, decision making, planning and organization, self-confidence, and a tolerance for stress. Excellent ability to focus on the customer and gain an in-depth understanding of and deliver products that meet their needs. Well-developed people practices, including strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, the ability to build lasting relationships, provide recognition, demonstrate integrity, and maintain high personal standards. Strong ability to build effective teams and organizational capability through the identification and development of skills, knowledge, and leadership of others (mentoring). Excellent business and financial acumen, including managing vision and purpose, strategic agility, understanding key business drivers and leverage points, establishing and managing budgets, compliance with financial controls and other financial processes, and short- and long-term profitability factors.  Strong organizational skills are required and an unrelenting sense of urgency to act and respond to challenges. Positive attitude, patience, superb listening skills, command skills, ability to learn on the fly, and reliability required.
