The Safety Manager provides leadership and manages the Mill Safety Program and the Fire Protection System.
The Safety Manager is responsible for understanding the Mill operations, developing relationships with all groups of employees, auditing behaviors, and driving the safety culture toward improvements in safety performance.  The selected candidate must be able to identify opportunities and drive sustainable change.  The Safety Manager will have responsibility for ensuring Ticonderoga is current with all corporate safety initiatives, policies, as well as, governmental compliance.  The Safety Manager will work closely with the Regional Safety Management team, corporate counterparts and peer group across the Mill system to accomplish goals.  The Safety Manager is expected to actively participate in activities outside the Mill, to include but not limited to OSHA events and networking with other manufacturing facilities.
The Safety Manager is responsible for providing expertise / guidance to the Mill Lead Team in our quest to achieve an accident-free workplace, while positively impacting profitability and operational excellence.
The selected candidate will be a point of contact and respond to all safety related situations 24/7/365 days per year.  The Safety Manager will be responsible for management of the Mill Safety Facilitators and the Safety Engineer.
Qualified candidates must possess a clear ability to lead others to accomplish a common goal.  To be considered, the candidate must have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple and complex assignments.  He / she must understand team dynamics; and have the ability to lead a diverse workforce.  The candidate must be able to lead meetings, conduct training, have strong listening skills; as well as, have the ability to effectively manage change and handle conflict in the workplace.  Qualified candidates must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others. A strong propensity to lead and manage the mill safety observation system in the pursuit of an accident free work environment is a requirement.
Position requires a minimum of 5+ years experience managing industrial health & safety programs in a broad range of manufacturing environments, a bachelors degree in occupational health and safety (or related field), an appropriate professional certification, or equivalent experience. Must be willing to travel up to 20 % of the time.
