The Mansfield Mill is seeking a dynamic leader for the mill’s health and safety program.  The successful candidate will lead the mill’s safety program through managing and/or supervising the health and safety team, the on-site emergency response team, and the worker’s compensation and health services programs.  The Health and Safety Manager provides tactical and strategic leadership for accomplishing our vision of an incident-free workplace. 
Critical responsibilities include:
  • Development, implementation and management of health and safety management systems.
  • Development of policies, procedures, programs and implementation tools, including training programs, to continuously improve the mill’s safety and healthy performance and culture.
  • Providing leadership and management support to health and safety staff.
  • Providing technical expertise to resolve safety and health concerns, meet regulatory compliance obligations and International Paper standards.
5+ years of experience managing industrial health and safety programs in a manufacturing environments, a bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related degree, and an appropriate professional certification or equivalent.
7+ years of supervisory/management experience in the paper industry and a demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence people outside of line of authority.  Experience leading, managing and implementing industrial health and safety programs.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams and getting things accomplished through others, and a demonstrated ability to develop sustainable systems when implementing change.  Listening and presentation skills are critical, along with facilitation, change management and conflict resolution skills.
