Job Functions:

 

Support the facility in achieving manufacturing excellence using total quality principles, superior manufacturing techniques and preventive maintenance.

  • Develop and provide leadership for process control improvement projects.
  • Monitor and maintain the health of the DCS, PLC or QCS systems.
  • Support operations in continual improvement of DCS, PLC or QCS systems.
  • Troubleshoot DCS, PLC, or QCS software/hardware issues.
  • Prepare functional descriptions for DCS, PLC, or QCS systems changes.
  • Maintain and provide support for modifications to process graphic displays.
  • Maintain system backups for process control PC’s and Servers.
  • Manage support personnel and DCS business partner in regular maintenance and upgrade of control systems

Be actively involved in mill safety program. Proactively lead to insure control systems are supporting safety goals and objectives.

Develop, maintain, and use reliable methods for all processes and improvements.

Assist other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.

Maintain and develops team relationships with operations, maintenance and engineering resources

Develops cross-functional process skills so that individual can back up Process control engineers in all areas of the mill.

Actively support operator-training needs for process area of mill

 

Aptitudes:

 

Willingness to work in and support industrial environment

Willingness to learn key process areas and new systems

Willingness to support E&I technicians in understanding DCS system

Willingness to participate in weekend duty rotation.

 

Job Qualifications:

 

B.S. Engineering or Technical Degree (Chemical, Pulp & Paper or Electrical) preferred.

Pulp & Paper experience and process knowledge preferred.

DCS (DeltaV), PLC (Rockwell), and QCS (Valmet) experience preferred.

Working knowledge of basic process instruments and final control elements (valves, VFD’s).

Ability to understand control loop and process P&ID drawings.

Exposure to alarm management and optimization

Demonstrated effective facilitation, project execution, and follow-up and problem-solving skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCad, SQL databases, and data historians (PI).

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members and customers.

Proactive in follow-up and resolution of issues while holding himself/herself and others accountable.
