IT Source Business Analyst

The Application Services Source team partners with the Global Sourcing, Fiber Supply and the Supply Chain Center of Excellence to manage global improvement projects for the procurement, storeroom and fiber supply processes.  The Source team supports Global Sourcing purchasing and storeroom users at mills and box plants at 300+ locations in North America, Latin America, North Africa and Europe. 

The Source IT Business Analyst II, as a member of the Application Services Source team, will work in a team environment to design, deliver, and sustain technology to enable business processes in the area of SAP Materials Management (MM), Ariba Procure to Pay, SAP BW plus any additional approved applications. The SAP MM module includes the procurement and inventory functions occurring in day-to-day IP business operations. Key process functionality includes purchasing, goods receiving, material storage, consumption-based planning, and inventory management.  The SAP MM module is integrated with SAP Ariba, BI, and with other modules in the SAP ECC System including Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), Quality Management (QM), Plant Maintenance (PM), Production Planning (PP), Warehouse Management(WM).

Key Responsibilities:

  • IT Analyst II Role: Design, Review, Develop, Test, Implement, and Support SAP/Ariba and other 3rd party sourcing/procurement  IT applications: 
    • Works cohesively with other Information Technology resources, COE process stewards, and Global Sourcing and Fiber Supply business representatives.
    • Drive improvements in key SAP MM areas and explore opportunities to standardize, simplify and improve procurement solutions through all phases of technical analysis, development and implementation
      • With 25+ years of SAP MM at International Paper there are opportunities to expand capability and leverage newer technology through maintenance, upgrades, and enhancement projects.
    • Support area Sustain activities
      • Ongoing area maintenance and sustain to continue to build/retain SAP MM knowledge
    • Under general direction, formulates and defines systems, scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
    • Participates in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new and/or upgraded technology.
    • Analyzes and design user information flows and reporting needs.
    • Performs SAP system configuration, creates functional specifications for custom ABAP and BW work, performs unit and acceptance testing and provides production support troubleshooting.   
    • Translate customer’s high-level requirements into functional and/or technical specifications.  Educates IT organization on the general direction of the Global Sourcing business.
  • Relates Global Sourcing and Fiber Supply business and IT objectives to team or departmental activities. Competent to work on all phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. 
  • Participates as the Source representative for larger Global Sourcing and Supply Chain efforts to define, plan and complete deliverables within established work plan schedules.  Attends project/planning meetings and communicates regularly with team management and with project team members.
  • May instruct, direct and check the work of business analysis personnel.
  • Leads independently on selected assignments to include: preparation of medium to complex project plans, coordination of multiple resources and reporting project status.
  • Facilitates internal knowledge transfer to teammates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of 6-8 years SAP experience
  • Preferred SAP MM and/or Ariba experience  
  • Preferred functional BW (extractors, cubes, DSO etc.) experience
  • Familiar with IDOC, ALE and other external application integration
  • Knowledgeable about IP ITSS and COE business processes and systems
  • Strong functional/technical skills including SAP configuration and the ability to troubleshoot and debugging ABAP code
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in multiple business areas in a constantly changing environment
  • Intermediate understanding of integrated global systems and how issues and processes affect each other within the global landscape
  • Project management experience preferred but not required
