Associate Capital Manager 


This position supports the Industrial Packaging Capital function which has the largest capital spend for the company.  The position reports to the Containerboard Manager of Capital Services. The successful individual will provide support and consultation to eighteen integrated and non-integrated containerboard mills. Responsibilities include capital planning cycle execution, capital forecasting, measuring, reporting, improvement projects, and communication to mills, technology, and business leadership.  The position is located in Memphis, TN and has workplace flexibility.  Up to 50% travel is required.



  • Supports the IP Containerboard Division’s five-year facility capital planning and execution.
  • Organize and lead five-year facility plan reviews and two-year capital allocations plan.
  • Manages annual, monthly, and quarterly capital forecast spending and reconciliation.
  • Containerboard Division Project Review Team (PRT) and business capital approvals process steward.
  • Manage change requests, scope changes, overruns, and other capital work flows.
  • Ensures all required capital and financial processes are being followed.
  • Supports a $500-800 million capital project portfolio for the Industrial Packaging business.



  • Four year engineering or technical degree is preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in pulp and paper manufacturing operations
  • Understands and can explain capital project delivery process (PDP)
  • Knowledge of SAP, BW, and Unifier preferred or a proven ability to learn systems quickly
  • Proven ability to influence business partners
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • High level Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint capability
  • Understanding of corporate financial systems
